Taekwondo Canada Announces Canadian
Eligibility for 2008 CTU Championships
Taekwondo Canada has announced the National Eligibility
Criteria for the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships that will be held in
Winnipeg, Manitoba from the 21st to the 23rd of November, 2008. For
further information, see Taekwondo Canada's website at
www.wtfcanada.com. Deadline
for all Top Four Ranked athletes per WTF weight class and Canadian Junior
National Championships Top Four athletes to submit their interest to
Taekwondo Canada is September 5th.
News & Information
May 26th - Congratulations to Jessica Johnson, who won the Featherweight National Title at Team Trials this past weekend in Ottawa! Jessica will now represent Canada at the Pan Am Championships in Puerto Rico in October. Congratulations as well to Master Cha, Cecilia Lee, Kevin Mejia, Magdalena Szczotka and Marcela Szczotka who each placed 2nd in their division.
April 22 - ATA Members are encouraged to join the Facebook Group 'ATA Athlete Information', set up and administered by Athlete Rep Magdalena Szczotka.
April 22 - The ATA is pleased to support our Junior 'A' Athletes with the following funding, approved at the April 19th Board of Directors Meeting: $1000.00 to Gold Medalists, $300.00 to Silver Medalists and $100.00 to Bronze Medalists. In addition, $3100.00 has been allocated to support our athletes attending Senior Team Trials in Ottawa on May 24th.

Junior National Championships!
Junior 'A' Gold medals winners, who are eligible to compete at the 2008
World Junior Championships in Turkey, are Brandon Boychuk, Angelo Lee and
Baljot Chahal! Congratulations also to Master Chan Lee, who has been
selected as Canadian Team Coach for the World Junior Championships. Full results...
Congratulations to Grandmaster Myung Ok Yu, who has been selected to officiate at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to be held August 20-23, 2008. Grandmaster Yu is one of only 29 officials chosen worldwide and is the only Canadian to be invited to officiate at the Games.
Dr. Terry DeFreitas has also been
selected to attend the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a
member of the Canadian Olympic Committee Medical Team. Dr.
DeFreitas will be working with the Canadian Taekwondo athletes as
well as athletes from other sports.
